Place Value

This week in math, we started our Place Value unit. We've been working hard on writing numbers in a variety of ways such as: standard form, pictorial form, word form, and expanded form.

Kahoot Quiz = AWESOME!

We've also been using our student iPads to take quizzes on a website called Kahoot. It is so much FUN!

Communities

In social studies, we've been learning about communities. This week we learned about rural, suburban, and urban communities. We worked with a team to create a collage of illustrations that describe a specific type of community.

Nearpod

In math, Mrs. Patten created a presentation on an app called, "Nearpod" and we all got to follow along with the presentation using our student iPads. Throughout the lesson we had opportunities to solve problems on the iPad, and we were able to share our thinking and strategies with the rest of the class. Afterwards, we were able to even do our independent work on the iPad!

Math Station Fun

At the end of our math class, we get to strengthen the skills we've learned throughout the year by working on Math Stations.

Fact Family Gallery Walk

After learning about fact families, we practiced creating fact families in a gallery walk.

Classifying Buttons

In science, we learned that scientists often classify objects by their attributes. As scientists, we classified buttons based off of their properties and attributes. Here are just a few of the ways we classified our buttons as a team:
  • Color
  • Size
  • Number of button holes
  • Shape
